DHI – CHOI PEN Hair Transplant Procedure

The DHI technique stands for direct hair implantation in the literature. This technique was first used in the world by a Korean doctor named Choi. As the name suggests, this method has developed day by day and has become the latest technology. It is possible to produce different sizes and shapes suitable for different hair follicles. In this way, more comfortable and successful results are obtained for people who have hair transplantation. It is one of the procedures that increase the success percentage of hair transplantation.

It is different from the classical Lateral Slit hair transplantation technique and sapphire hair transplantation. The procedure is performed surgically without the help of any instrument. The hair follicles to be transferred are surgically transplanted with the help of a specially produced implanter needle pen. In this procedure, a single hair follicle is placed on the tip of the needle with an implanter needle without damaging the follicle. After the placement process, the process performed by directly transplanting to the hair transplantation area is called DHI – CHOI technique.

DHI – CHOI PEN Hair technique is very practical since there is no microchannel opening process. Thanks to this feature, canal opening can be done in different sizes in one go. Thanks to the Choi Pen needle pen, the canal opening process is completed in desired sizes. For this reason, the possibility of bleeding is lower as there will be less injury to the skin.
It allows much faster cell recovery compared to Lateral Slit and Sapphire method.
Hair grafts taken from the donor area are kept protected in a special lotion in other methods. In DHI method, there is no need to keep it in lotion. In this way, direct transplantation of hair follicles to the transplantation area is provided.
Thanks to Choi Pen needles, it is possible to reach the desired angles with 40 – 45 degree angles. In this way, the implantation of the desired hair follicles is done more easily. As a result, more accurate and natural hair transplantation results are obtained.
In hair tightening operations, it is advantageous because it does not damage the existing hair follicles. Since there is no incision process, the process is completed without damaging the hair follicles.

It is possible to prolong the time due to the materials used during the operation. The fact that the operation is more sensitive and difficult causes the duration to be longer. An average of 8 – 10 Choi Pen and 15 – 20 Choi Pen tips are among the factors that prolong the time. Due to the prolonged duration and more effort, the price is slightly higher compared to other methods.

Day 1

Pre-operative controls:

The person who will have FUE hair transplantation procedure is first subjected to a blood test and all controls are performed. After the operation, a forehead line is drawn to rehearse how the patient will look after the operation. In this way, the patient is given information and motivation about the patient before and after. The patient has the chance to express his/her wishes after the rehearsal. If the patient approves the rehearsal process, the hair transplantation operation is started.

Anaesthesia Procedure

During the hair transplantation procedure, local anaesthesia is applied with a needle. This procedure is performed using the Comfort-in anaesthesia device to reduce pain. The Comfort-in device has a high pressure feature due to the fact that it is completely needle-free. The high pressure allows it to penetrate easily under the skin. With this method, it is aimed to numb the donor area painlessly. The Comfort-in device is not used alone to provide complete numbness in painless anaesthesia. Since it is deemed insufficient on its own, the procedure is continued with the help of local anaesthetic needles. It would be more logical to consider the Comfort-in device as an auxiliary anaesthetic device to alleviate pain. During anaesthesia, the needles are preferred in a personalised way and the pain and pains are kept to a minimum. In this way, it is aimed for the patient to have a healthy and comfortable hair transplantation procedure.

FUE Procedure (Haarentnahme)

The most suitable area for hair transplantation in hair surgery procedures is the back of the head. The area called the donor area is the place where DHT is not very effective and has healthy hair follicles. The area at the back of the head is located two fingers above the nape and between the two ears. This area is the primary reason for preference because it is efficient as a donor.

During the operation, the hair follicles of the person are removed from the donor area. A micro FUE motor with a specially adjustable rotation speed is used. In this process, it is aimed to remove the hair follicles in the donor area one by one without any damage. Thanks to this method, no incision is made while the hair follicles are removed outside the skin. Since there is no incision and the hair follicles are not damaged, the procedure is very successful and convenient. As a result of the removal of the hair, the assistant doctors organise the hair follicles and prepare them for the transplantation process. In this way, assistant doctors take the responsibility of making the hair follicles suitable for transplantation. While the hair follicles are made ready and suitable, it is important that they do not lose their structure. In order to preserve the vitality of the hair follicles, the hair is protected in a container with a special lotion. During this procedure, surgical hygiene and sterilisation rules are followed. Hair extraction time varies depending on the number of hair grafts taken from the donor area.

Necessities and Food Break

After the FUE process, i.e. hair removal is completed, a meal break is given. The break time is approximately 30 minutes. During this time, the patient has the freedom to fulfil his/her personal needs. In addition, it is possible to consume your request from the dishes on our menus to balance blood pressure. In this way, your stomach is full and your blood pressure balance is ensured.

Anaesthesia

After the lunch break, the procedures are resumed. There are some necessary procedures for the transplantation of the hair follicles taken from the donor area. The first of these procedures is the opening of the necessary microchannels. Before the procedure, local anaesthesia is applied again along the forehead line.

DHI – CHOI Implanter Technique and Hair Root Transplantation Phase

After local anaesthesia, the hair grafts taken from the donor area are transplanted to the target area. In order to transfer the grafts, Choi Implanter pen and needles specially produced for hair follicles are required. Unlike the surgical method used in sapphire and FUE Lateral Slit hair transplantation treatment, this procedure is performed without a canal opening process. The hair grafts, which are kept in a special lotion container to maintain their vitality, wait ready for the procedure. Then, necessary preparations are made for transfer to the target area by DHI technique. DHI direct implant procedure is performed with the angles deemed necessary by the doctor and with needle tips suitable for hair follicles. DHI technique is a slightly more complicated method compared to other hair transplantation techniques. This is because the grafts taken from the donor area can be 1, 2 or 3 hair follicles. Therefore, since only one hair follicle can be placed on the needle tip, the separation process requires great importance and effort. In the operation process, the hair follicles are transferred to the target area one by one by DHI method and the operation process is completed after the necessary controls are performed after the transfer process.

Tip

Since no incision is required, hair follicles are less likely to be damaged during the procedure in transplants using the DHI technique compared to lateral slit and sapphire canalisation techniques.
The healing process is faster compared to other methods since there is no extra canal opening process. The recovery period of skin deformations is easier compared to other methods.
Hair follicles may be damaged during the placement of hair follicles in Choi-implanter needles. This situation varies according to the quality of the Choi-implanter needles used and the experience of the hair transplantation centre chosen for the operation. Therefore, it is necessary to prefer experienced and reliable hair transplantation centres.
There may be more than one hair follicle (hair strand) in a graft. For this reason, it is necessary to plan well in advance to obtain a natural appearance after the operation. For an attractive and aesthetic appearance, the distribution of hair follicles should be carefully and planned. After the planned hair transplantation, the procedure is finalised by making the last controls.
Only one hair strand can be found in a hair follicle. This situation causes a single hair to grow out of the skin from a hair follicle. This situation never changes at any time.
Sapphire canal opening process is one of the factors that significantly affect the quality of hair transplantation and the success of the procedure.

After the sapphire hair transplant operation, the rules that the patient must follow are explained to him. Likewise, the patient is discharged after the medications and instructions to be used are explained to the patient in detail.

Day 2

After the operation, the tissues are very sensitive. This situation should be acted without forgetting. In order to avoid unwanted situations, it is recommended that the patient rest at the hotel or specified residence addresses. The patient should rest by resting, avoid sudden movements and act carefully by protecting against impacts.

Day 3

If there is no problem in the patient as a result of the controls, the first hair washing procedure is performed.

Afterwards, the patient is informed in detail how to perform the washing process on his/her own. After the first hair washing process, PRP treatment is applied for the rapid healing of damaged tissues.

PRP treatment also nourishes the hair follicles and allows them to adapt to the transplantation area faster. After 1 session of PRP treatment, the patient is discharged.
